Psalm 19. I thought I was going to be in the Gospels again tonight myself, but the Lord changed my mind over the last evening and throughout the day. So in the 19th Psalm, we’re going to look at something similar to what we’re talking about. Psalm 19, if you’ve looked at this Psalm before, first six verses talk about the heavens, creation, and how that the heavens and creation declare to us who God is.

God wants to reveal himself. He wants man to know who he is, what he’s like. And so creation does that, but the word of God reveals God more clearly to man. And that is taken up in verse 7 down to verse 14. So that’s what we’re going to be looking at tonight. The word of God. I mentioned it last one night. I can’t remember. My days have been kind of mixed up since last week.

Mom’s been in the hospital. Mom did come home. She is doing better. Progress on the leg. She’s getting around a little bit better. My wife talked to me on the way over here and she’s already doing laps in the house with her walker. She’s very resilient, very independent. So I appreciate your prayers for my mom. But I can’t remember what night I mentioned it, but an old preacher said it.

You touch this Bible somewhere, you touch Jesus somewhere. So the Word of God is literally Jesus on paper. I like that because that’s tangible. I don’t have Jesus. I didn’t do campfires with Jesus. They did, the disciples. We talked in the Gospels about real life, real time. The four men in the boat, those multitudes around him last night in John 6, in Luke 24, be it those ladies at the tomb, be it Cleopas and his wife, they all knew Jesus.

They talked to Jesus. They had a front row seat to Jesus. And so what I’ve been trying to share in the last three nights is we have that same opportunity. It’s different. He lives in our heart. I don’t even know how to articulate that or draw a picture of that or what it looks like. Where is he? He’s in me. Jesus Christ in the spirit of God lives inside me.

So everywhere I go, everything I think, he’s with me. That’s comforting. It’s also a little disconcerting because he knows everything about me. Whether he was in me or not, he would. So even that can be a little convicting. And it should be. And it’s a healthy conviction. I’ve thought about this picture since Sunday night because that is literally Jesus right there, water. One of the passages that I’ve kind of pondered is John 4.

That’s one of my favorite stories in the Gospels, the woman at the well. I like it because of who she was, her background. I like the fact that she would have been the talk of the town and And then Jesus is so interested in her, purposely went there, revealed himself as Messiah to her that he did not do to many on the planet. Even the inner circle ones.

But to her he did. Boys, there’s just stuff about Jesus that we need to get to know. So in Psalm 19, we have David writing Scripture. And sometimes we forget that David was writing Scripture inspired of, moved upon by the Spirit of God. And I’m not taking away from any of that, but he was also witnessing to us what he knew about God. I don’t think God, through the Spirit of God, is he used David in perfect people, Solomon.

We might look at Proverbs tomorrow night, not sure. Peter, Paul, John, all of those that wrote Scripture were not perfect individuals, but God used their personalities. Their experiences of God are shared in the text. Before we get into Psalm 19, let me just remind you that David knew way less about God than you do. He didn’t know who Jesus was other than when he wrote Psalm 22 wondering what he was writing about.

I mean, everything in Psalm 22 drips of Jesus, not David. So David had to be in some kind of a spiritual, supernatural moment when he wrote those verses down and he maybe had something akin to it in his own life but he knew that he was not writing of himself. Just flip back a few pages just so you kind of get that when we’re reading David about this relationship that he has with God he’s not just overtaken by the Spirit of God and mindlessly writing words.

I think sometimes they were Daniel. Daniel was overwhelmed by what he’d written. Sick on his stomach, flat on his back, basically. Had to be lifted up by angelic beings. Read it, it’s in there. I think he was clueless to what he was writing. David is not. David’s not mindlessly just writing words. Listen to Psalm 3. We’ll just start in verse 3. There’s a great song that uses these words.

I think it’s in the chorus. But thou, oh Lord, how personal this is, art a shield for me. My glory and the lifter up of mine head. That’s intimate. That’s like a mom would lift up the sick head of a baby. And again, I just want to remind, that’s not David mindlessly writing things that are not real in his life. I cried unto the Lord with my voice and he heard me out of his holy heel.

I laid me down and slept. I waked for Psalms and David. Go to Psalm 119. Now Psalm 119, just as a disclaimer, doesn’t really have David on. It’s just my opinion. It’s David. Might not be, but I’m leaning towards David. He says this in 72. The law of thy mouth. You know, that can be, what he’s writing there can be like reminding us that when we read God’s word, we’re actually listening to the mouth of God.

It kind of helps me, you know, when I’m thinking about scripture. And I think maybe, you know, it took me a while to kind of get that as I read Scripture, that you have the privilege of really reading the mind of God. And so that’s kind of what he’s saying, the law of thy mouth. And you get from that phrase, your mouth, your words, your truth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver.

Everybody in this room knows the value of gold and silver. You might not have much. I remember I have, I got to watch my stories. I remember I had an uncle, but I didn’t know him very well. My grandfather, who I’m named after, died when I was seven. And so his brother said, I don’t know what that would be a great, I don’t know what that is, whatever in the uncle line, great uncle, whatever.

I only met him one time because he lived in Hawaii. He moved to Hawaii in the 40s, bought land, became filthy rich. And I remember he took in his pocket, I was about maybe six years old, maybe. Might have been when Papa died. And he pulled out of his pocket a gold nugget. And I remember that it was soft. I’d never seen like gold. David is telling us in Psalm 119 that he treasures God’s word more than gold.

And I think he knew what gold was. I think he knew what the value of riches were. But yet he’s confessing in the word of God that he understood at some point in his life that his word, the Lord’s word, the words of his mouth were more important than gold and silver. If he had to lose one, he’d lose the riches. So I want us to dive into Psalm 19 and we’ll start in verse 7 through 14.

And I want us to think about some of the things that we’ve talked about over the last few nights. We’ve talked about believing his word, whether it was the ladies or it was the disciples who saw an empty tomb and didn’t think immediately a resurrection, or maybe you’re Cleopas and Cleopas’ wife, and you just don’t really think, you know, God will show up in your life, in your hurts, in your den, in your sin, and in your mess and hang out with you.

You’re wrong. You can believe his words. You can believe that you can cast all your care upon him because he cares for you. You can believe him when he tells you that he has peace that passes all understanding, you can believe that. You’ve got to follow him to learn those things, though. You’ve got to hang out with him. You’ve got to have a front row seat to really learn him, love him, worship him, leave all for him.

You have to see him. If you just serve a church, it won’t last. If you serve the accolades of people or the exciting times of ministry, it won’t last. If you live off people, it won’t last. And I’m not saying you shouldn’t have community. We need the community of faith. But the author and the finisher of my faith is one man. One man. His name is Jesus.

That’s the man I got to hang out with. That’s the man I got to have a front row seat to because that’s the man I got to stay in love with. And you will not live there unless you follow him. And then it has to be every day. It can’t just be the church. We talked about last night about him having a plan and I got to be in it.

And sometimes it’s hard to know what his plan is. Sometimes like in John 6, it looks completely impossible. Sometimes it’s not what you want. Can you imagine if God had like preempted Daniel’s life and said, I’m just kind of letting you know what your life’s going to look like. And so here’s what’s going to happen. Somewhere in your early teen years, you’re going to be snatched into captivity.

Most of your family’s going to die. And I’ll be nice with this, but you’re going to be rendered a eunuch. They’re going to change your clothes, change your haircut, change your name. But I’m going to give you an opportunity to make my name known to a godless society. I don’t know that I would say, well, put me in. Sign me up. So how do I, how do I navigate the plan?

I want us to look at some promises that are made in verses seven, eight, and nine. And that’s kind of the first little aspect that we’re going to look at tonight about the word of God. I guess we could call this desire him. We’ve talked about believing his words, believing him. We’ve talked about following him. We talked about last night about like being involved in his plan because he’s got one and that if you’ll just give him what you have, he will use you in ways that are immeasurable.

But tonight, I just want to look at how much desire do I have for him? And one of the most tangible things that I have, one of the greatest vehicles that I have is the word of God. And the Word of God enhanced by the Spirit of God that lives within me, right? We’ve talked about Jesus at the beginning of the message. He’s in me. I don’t know what it looks like.

I can’t tell you the science or the supernatural science of it, but He’s in there. And the Spirit of God can take his word and grow it in me. Change me. Transform me. Change my thinking. Make me otherworldly. Grow my faith. Give me peace that passes all understanding when the storm’s still blowing. So I just want you to understand tonight, as we dive into this, you have a tangible vehicle that is Jesus that you can intentionally make plans to give it access to your life.

It’s way easier than it used to be. I’ve read through the scriptures obviously over the years but I’ve never listened to it before. My wife is more technologically inclined than I am. I am a complete dinosaur. I even have a hat. I don’t know if anybody remembers Sinclair Stations? Remember the dinosaur? Anybody remember Sinclair Stations? None of the young people are, but some heads nodding. And it’s got a dinosaur.

I got me a hat when I was in Colorado. It’s got a Sinclair and a dinosaur. So I can wear the hat and I can be the dinosaur. And I’m not ashamed to be the dinosaur. But, so I listened to the Word of God on my wife’s iPad and it’s reading it and it’s, you know, articulating every word and all the long names that you can’t pronounce and all the syllables.

And there’s wind blowing and God’s voice is deep. You know, it’s great. And so while I’m listening, I’m kind of following along and reading myself, and it was amazing. I’m going to do it again. We have so much ease by which we can give God access into your heart. Let me ask you, if you drive a long way to work, what do you do? What do you do?

I can’t work half as on my car either because I’m a dinosaur. But man, you can put stuff on your phone, right? And just have it going through the vehicle all the way to work and all the way back. Had a man, here’s another story and I even got into the text, but I’m watching the clock, I promise you. I’m just trying to make sure you understand how powerful the Word of God is.

Had a man in the church, Oakwood, and they’d just gotten back in church, had been out of church, started coming to my Sunday school class, and he’s really getting hungry and thirsty for God, and he says, I really need you, Lord, Lord to help me or God needs you to help me how I can really grow my faith. I said so where do you work? And he told me where he worked and where he worked was a ways off.

So he had about 45minutes. 45minutes to work and then 45minutes back home. And this was back in the 90’s so I gave him a CD that had Alexander Scorby. I don’t know if anybody remembers that name. He was English or whatever. And he could really, really pronounce everything. It was amazing. So he said, I said, you know, just listen to the word. I said, do it for 30 days.

And I’m telling you, in 30 days, I watched that man change. I remember him coming to me, said, thank you. And I told him, I didn’t do nothing for you. You decided, you decided that you’d take 45minutes every day of your life driving to work and give this word, this Jesus, this power into your life and it did exactly what this book says it will do. It will change your life.

Let’s look at the promises. I’m just going to call 7, 8 nine, the benefits. Are you ready? You’re gonna have six distinct names for God’s word. Six distinct benefits of the God’s word that are absolute. Okay, here we go. The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul. There’s number one. The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. These are all promises from Jesus, promises from God, straight from his word.

The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart. The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes, not your eyeballs, your spiritual eyes. Hebrews calls it our spiritual senses that are transformed by the habit of the Word. It’s in Hebrews 5, I think about verse 11 towards the end of the chapter. Your spiritual senses are transformed through the Word. That’s what it says there. The commandment of the Lord pure, it’ll enlighten your eyes.

The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever. The judgments, or I like better the verdicts of the Lord, like an umpire. God’s the one that calls strikes and balls, out or safe. All the verdicts, the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. Now you can’t get any more absolute promises that we just heard in 7, 8, and 9. Now quickly, let me go down through the things that define to us the word.

Law, that just means doctrine. The Bible’s full of teaching, testimony, written word. We’ve got the written word of God. It’s been written down. Now, this ain’t everything God knows, right? We know that. But we’ve got a book and it’s all been written down. Third thing, statutes are guidelines, parameters. Commandment is authoritative. In other words, they’re absolute truths. The fear of the Lord is our honor and reverence of it.

The judgments are rules, or like I said, I like verdicts. God’s verdicts, again, are absolute. Now, let’s look at the things it says about the word. It says it’s perfect. That means it’s whole and it’s complete. Look, a divine God wrote a timeless book. I mean, there’s some really shallow-minded people that tells you that God gave us a book that’s archaic and out of date. It’s always relevant.

I don’t care how long the world takes on. God has given everybody that live on the planet words that they can live by. It’s perfect. It’s whole. It’s complete. It’s all you need. It’s sure. That just means it’s certain. There ain’t nothing in the Bible that you can’t build your life on. It’s right. The path, the way of God’s word is right. It’s pure. Now, it says pure and clean, and they’re a little bit different.

The word pure means it’s not cloudy. It’s clean. It’s clear. You can see it. Now, I’m not saying everything in the Bible is easy to understand, like in the first five minutes. It might take you the next 55minutes, or it could take you a couple years. But everything in the Word of God, if you will keep your focus on it, you’ll find it to be not obscure.

The next word, clean, means it’s holy. It means it’s pure. And then the last thing, the judgments, it means they’re true and they’re reliable. But now let’s get to the last little things. We could spend all night just on these seven, eight, and nine. Here’s what it says it’ll do for you. I don’t talk about the benefits. The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul.

Now, that sounds like salvation, but the word converting means refresh. It means this book will be life to you. I mentioned I almost talked about John 4 one night. In fact, I was thinking about it tonight. So maybe I’m just going to mention a little bit about it. You remember what Jesus told that woman? You remember what he told her? About what would be in her belly?

Like inside her? There’d be what inside her? A whale, right? A whale that would be constantly refreshing her life. Listen, the word of God promises that no matter what happens on in your peripheral life, if you will stay intravenously, spiritually speaking, plugged up to God, he will refresh your soul. Revival is here. Revival is Jesus. Revival is following, listening, learning, worshiping Jesus. Constant refreshment is found in Jesus.

You can’t go to church enough to get what Jesus supplies. I’m just telling you. The word of God promises that if you’ll stay giving him some access in this book into your life, he will constantly refresh your soul. You remember what Paul says? What Paul said about his outside life? What do you say? Dying, right? Dying. What do you say about his inner man? Alive and well.

Alive and well. Right? That’s what this book is saying. This promise is being made. Look at the next one in verse number seven. It makes wise the simple. We’re the simple, right? And we’re given wisdom from God’s word. That’s just basically saying I need discernment when I’m making decisions in life. So I’m not to make sure that my life is filled with God’s word, filled in my mind, his words, his ways, so that I can make decisions that are led by his word.

I need discernment. And so he’s just promising us through this passage that the word of God is sure and certain and absolute, and it will make you wise. Wisdom is again ,. Really? Proverbs when it talks about wisdom, wisdom is Jesus. Just like the word is Jesus. I need Jesus to give me discernment in my life. These verses promise me that I can have discernment. Look at the next phrase.

They are right rejoicing the heart. Can I just tell you the word of God as you get it into your life and you follow it and you live it and you love it and you obey it? It don’t bring you down. I used to think it did. When I was a kid growing up and I grew up in the 60s, things were pretty tight in the 60s.

Growing up in church, you know, my mama was pretty rough. I thought everything the Bible said was hard. Somebody was against everything. I thought it was like pinching in on my life. I found out I was wrong. The Bible sets parameters in our world to keep us from shame, to keep us from guilt, to protect us from the wrong path. So again, he’s just reminding us that if you follow the path of the Lord, it brings rejoicing into your life.

The devil is all about piling on guilt. My flesh, if I get the way I want, will pile on the shame. So again, it’s just reminding us that if you want a life that is free of regret, then follow Jesus. Look, nobody’s gonna do that perfectly. I got my regrets, you got your regrets, we all got our regrets and I’ll probably have more of them. But it’s just reminding us.

The word of the Lord is about bringing joy into our life. Not guilt, not shame, not bondage, freedom. Freedom to do right. Freedom to follow Christ. Verse 8, the latter part, we talked about this a little bit, enlightening the eyes. Everything in the Word of God is open to you. And like I said earlier, some things might take five minutes, some things might take six months, whatever. I mentioned it the other night, I think about the book of Ephesians.

Ephesians is like chapter 1, the whole end of the chapter is him praying for God to cut the light on. That’s up to you. If you really believe, and we’ll talk about some of the things that he motivates them in this passage. He’s gonna witness to us a little bit beginning in verse 10. If we really believed everything that we need in here is really in here, we would spend a whole lot of time in here saying, Lord, open up my eyes.

And it doesn’t matter. You just pick a topic. Pick a topic. We were talking about houses just a few minutes ago, right? You don’t think God knows houses? Sure he does. He knows fishing. He knows fishing. I’m about to sell a house. My real estate guy said it’s not the greatest time to be selling a house. You might want to wait after the first year. Well, I’ve been praying.

I don’t know when to sell a house. I don’t know nothing about houses. But I do believe the Lord knows my finances. I do believe the Lord knows all my financial mistakes and I’m asking him for mercy. I’m not saying I deserve the big sale. I’m just saying I don’t know a bunch about life. But I know this. My God does and he will give me direction and guidance.

And I think he’ll do it for you. He’ll do it for me. He’ll do it for us. So not just enlighten our eyes in this book, but in life. You know, there’s not a Bible verse for everything. Is there a Bible verse for picking out her or him, right? Or even the house or the job? I wish there was. I wish it was easy. I wish it was cut and dried.

I would have no problem with the Lord doing signs again. I would have no problem with that whatsoever. Just cloud formations, got it. Got it. You know? The house on Elm Street, boom. It’s in the clouds. God don’t give you all the details, but if you put enough of this in here, in here, he’ll give you guidance. What does the Bible say? The steps of a good man, ordered of the Lord.

That’s not 1-900 -get-rich -fast. That’s a Bible truth for a believer. You want your steps, order to the Lord. He says he’ll do it. The word of God is a lamp, not a flashlight. I wish it was. I want to know the future. I want to know when the house is going to sell. But it’s a lamp. For what? Steps. Wouldn’t be faith. It was a flashlight.

A big halogen. Right? He is saying that he’ll give you guidance in the word, in life, through the word. He’ll enlighten your eyes. Verse nine. It endures forever. Stay with the Bible. Stay with the Bible. I wish, I mean, my mama, my daddy, good church. I didn’t really pick up my Bible until I was a junior, late junior, maybe a senior in high school. I thought it was boring as dust.

What Bible I got, they preached it to me or the youth pastor preached it to me or my mama preached it to me. She’d stick them in my wallet when I’d go to school. There’d be a Bible verse in it and I’d have to read it, you know. But I found out when I started giving this book access into my life, things changed in my life. All he’s reminding us of in that little phrase, it endures forever.

It don’t matter how old you are. It don’t matter what you’re going through. It don’t matter what incident has just happened. It don’t matter what legs of the table’s just fallen off in your life. You will find everything that you need in here, in him. This is Jesus that you can hold. This is Jesus you can hug. This is Jesus you can see. Don’t miss it. The last little thing.

It says they’re just true and righteous altogether. They’re dependable. They’re not like science things that change or them English rules. They change on you every once in a while. All right, let’s go to verse 10. Go to verse 10. That’s the benefits. Here’s the witness of the psalmist in verse 10. Look at it. More to be desired are they, what I just shared with you, than gold.

Yea, than much fine gold. The best gold, the most treasured gold. More should you desire his truth than gold. So value, treasure, word of God. Second thing in verse 10. This is the witness of David. Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Proverbs tells us that we should value God’s word so much and wisdom that can be found through a relationship with God’s word through Jesus Christ, who is wisdom in the book of Proverbs.

He said, you’ll dig it. You’ll dig it. Now listen, if anybody in this house knew there was gold in your front yard, you’d rent the backhoe and dig it up. Right? If you had to borrow the money to rent the backhoe. Dig. Ponder its truth. Hey, if you read something in Ephesians or in Isaiah and you didn’t get it the first time, tell the Lord, say, I’ll be back tomorrow.

I can take you to Scripture text, the Old Testament, where prophets would tell God that. I’ll be back. You know, all you got to do really to understand God’s word is be hungry or be thirsty. That’s it. If it’s got anything to do with intellect, we in trouble. All of us in trouble. It’s about hunger. It’s about thirst. It’s about our relationship with Jesus. It’s about passion.

It’s about intention. Look, God knows when you’re just messing with him. But God knows when you’re hungry. God knows when you’re hurting. God’s not no preacher. Ain’t no mama. Ain’t no daddy. He knows our hearts. So guess what? When you become understanding that there’s value in this book, you can get in five minutes what you couldn’t get in two hours learning physics. You can get this five minutes.

Sometimes you don’t have much time. I’ve been there. At one time when I was in Bible college, you know when I was married, I was pastoring the church, I had a little girl and I had a third shift job. There wasn’t a whole lot of time in my day. I was scrounging for time, right? And then you got a baby that’s crying. They don’t care what time it is.

They don’t care how tired you are, you know? So there’d be some days I didn’t have much time for me, but I learned that God can do more than five minutes. You see, he knows if it’s just a facade that you don’t have time. If you really don’t have time, but you’re really hungry, he’ll load your soul up with truth because you treasure it. What do you value?

You value stuff you protect. You look at it every once in a while. My grandfather gave my daddy an L .C. Smith shotgun, double barrel. And it’s worth some money, not a whole lot of money, but it’s worth some money. Well, I have it. And man, we’ve taken care of that thing. You still got the oil markings on it. It’s a beautiful gun. I hadn’t shot it in a while.

Well, I treasure that thing. I value it. Do you value God’s word more than gold? The next one, though, we got to hurry. Sweeter. That’s odd. I remember when I was a kid and they’d preach on this kind of stuff and they’d talk about that, how Jesus was sweet to the taste and the Bible was sweet to the taste. I don’t even get that. I grew up, my grandpa and my uncle, they have farms.

I’ve had my whole face just sticky with honey from beehives. I knew what it was to chew a honeycomb and it was sweet. It’d get your saliva glands going. What’s he saying? The word of God is taste for your soul. Hear me, your wife can’t do that for you. There’s a whole lot your wife can do for you, but she can’t do that. Church can’t do that.

Money can’t do that. Ain’t nobody can do that but God. Well, how do you find out? The Simon said, taste and see. Don’t hear from me. Don’t listen to me. Taste for yourself. Get on the boat. Get a front row seat. Sit down. Walk with him for a few miles. Let him talk till your heart burns within you. See him work through your life. You’ll want more.

It’ll be better than ice cream. That’s David’s witness. This book’s more valuable than anything I’ve got. And it’s more satisfying. This ain’t about the sweet taste of honey. This is about being satisfied. You can fill a carport. You can fill a 401k. You can fill up a house. But you can’t fill your soul. God can. He can satisfy you. Third thing. The experience of the psalmist. By them, verse 11, by them, listen to this, is thy servant warned.

Now, you don’t tell us how. Sometimes it’s explicit, right? There’s a bunch of stuff in God’s Word that we don’t even have to think about or pray about. It is spelled out. Thou shalt not, right? But the indication here is that if we put enough of this inside us, it’s like a warning mechanism. I like that. I want to be warned when I’m about to move down a wrong path or if my thinking ain’t right.

I need a warning. The Bible says by them is thy servant warned. Look at this. And in keeping of them, in other words, in the obedience of them, in the following of them, there is great reward. Now that don’t mean money or cars. It just simply means a good life. Listen, I’ve lived long enough to know about some things that are just way better than anything I could put in a garage or anything that I could, from a tangible, earthly side of things.

Be it my children walking with Jesus. Me and my wife. I mean, our relationship ain’t never been perfect. We’ve been married since we were 18. You know, since 1978.

But that we’re still together. I just turned 66 and all these years that the Lord’s let me still keep doing what I’m doing. Every chapter in my life ain’t been good. But that the Lord’s still letting me serve him. I’m just telling you, there’s rewards that you can’t put a price tag on by following Jesus. That’s what he’s saying. My experience, David, is saying that the Bible, the word, the truth will warn you about wrong paths and God will reward you in the right path.

The last thing that we’ll look at tonight, 12 to 14, is like his pursuit because he ends it with like a little prayer there in verse 14. Who can understand his errors? Like a question. I need to know. I need to know my errors. Cleanse thou me from secret faults. God, I need you to get inside me and mess up my heart. Not too much down the road.

He’ll be saying those kinds. Judge me, oh Lord. Render verdicts. That’s in Psalms 26. Examine me. Prove me. Try my reigns. That’s no more than what he’s saying here. The word of God will get in your business. That’s what I want. I don’t mind other people getting in my business. I don’t mind my wife getting in my business. She’s known me better than anybody. I don’t mind her getting in my face.

I need it. But I gotta have him. I gotta have his word. That’s what he’s saying. Those errors, those secret faults. Look at 13. Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins. You know my weak areas. You know the areas of my life that I’ll cross the line. Right? Areas I’m strong-willed. Weakness. He said, keep me back from that. Let them not have dominion over me. Then shall I be upright.

I shall be innocent from the great transaction. He’s just saying, Lord, protect me. Here’s what he’s saying in the pursuit. It’s in this prayer. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer. My simple little question tonight for us to ponder is will you give Jesus access to your life? You want to walk with him?

Here it is. Now I don’t know when you do that. I’m not an early morning person. Now I don don’t like to sleep to lunch. I’m not telling you I sleep to lunch, but about 7, 6, 37 o’clock when I get up, I ain’t much for talking to you. Even past the coffee. Now, my wife, as soon as her feet hit the floor, is jabber, jabber, jabber. She’s ready to go.

But we’ve learned each other. She just leaves me alone. I don’t know if you’re early morning or late. I’m more of a night person. My mind’s more on popping on all sailors in the evening. My point is this. Every day, you get a chance to invite him in. And he’s already spoke. I got a book full from the mouth of God. I can hear him. Best things ever happened to me.

Didn’t happen in a building called the church. It happened in a bedroom or a closet. When the girls were little and I needed some peace, it’d be in my car. Sometimes it’s been in my office. Sometimes it’s just been walking around in the parking lot of the church looking up at his creation. Invite him in. Taste and see for yourself that the Lord is good. And you’ll follow him.

And you’ll experience him. And you’ll find his plan. And you’ll have a front row seat. And you’ll want more. And your soul, I promise you, will be refreshed no matter what’s going on in your life. No matter what’s happening down at the church, at the workplace, in your marriage, in your family, whatever. You’ll be refreshed. Heads are bowed, eyes are closed. Pastor, you come
